INDIA: The counterattack between leaders of BJP and Congress is in full swing as the Lok Sabha elections approach. Now former Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury has revealed that she is going to file a defamation case against PM Narendra Modi over his alleged ‘Suparnakha’ remark in Parliament in 2018. 

Ever since Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi’s jail sentence, the party members have boiled out of rage.

Renuka Chowdhury further opted to her Twitter handle and shared a video of PM Modi in which he stated “Sabhapati Ji, meri aapko prarthana hai Renuka Ji ko aap Kuch mat kahiye. Ramayan serial ke baad aise hasi sunane ka aaj saubhagya mila hai”

PM Modi’s word translate to, “Respected chairman, please refrain from saying anything to Renuka ji. I had the opportunity to hear this laughing for the first time after the Ramayana serial.”

She wrote, “This classless megalomaniac referred to me as Surpanakha on the floor of the house. I will file a defamation case against him. Let’s see how fast courts will act now…”

In her extended tweet, she mentioned Rahul Gandhi’s case and wrote, “Rahul Gandhi chose not to apologize for fighting against corruption. He chose not to apologize for fighting against fascism. He chose not to apologize for speaking the truth.”

According to a recent update, Congress is planning a protest march from Parliament to Vijay Chowk on Friday.

A group party meeting with other opposition leaders has also been organised, as some opposition leaders and chief ministers who are not members of the Congress have expressed worry over the decision and support for Rahul Gandhi. . 

Rahul Gandhi’s remark upon ‘Modi surname’ created controversy and BJP MLA and ex-Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi registered a case against him based on which the Wayanad MP was called to the Surat court, where he was declared guilty.

Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two years of jail which was suspended for 30 days before which he will have to appeal against the court order.
