SOUTH AFRICA, KwaZulu-Natal: Two decades and more into democracy, education in South Africa is a daunting task for some students as they face an uphill battle just to get to school. A small rural area in KwaZulu Natal province in South Africa is where these young kids shared their stories of how difficult it is for them to attend school. Groups of these young kids have to climb mountains and some have to cross rivers on a daily basis just to have a chance to attend school and have a better future. One of these kids has said, “I am contemplating on giving up because there is no use, on a daily basis I arrive 2 hours late at school because of the crossing rivers and other challenges”.
A future in this town looks bleak if the government doesn’t help them fast as parents said. A young boy shared his story. “Every day I must wake up at 3 am just to get ready for school” this young boy has a fear that he might not realize his dream of being a Doctor. The community is asking for help from anyone who can assist in providing transportation so that their kids can go to school.
