Ernst & Young to Examine Staff Safety after Woman Found Dead in Sydney Office

AUSTRALIA: After a woman was discovered dead in the early hours of Saturday morning in the company’s Sydney offices, Ernst & Young will conduct a “comprehensive and wide-ranging” review of the company’s health, security, and social policies.

Emergency services were summoned to the George Street offices at 12.20 a.m. on August 27, according to NSW police, where they discovered a woman’s death.

The 33-year-old woman, according to the as per the reports, went to a corporate social gathering on Friday night at the Ivy nightclub on the same street and then went back to work.

Ernst & Young’s chief executive, David Larocca, said the company was “deeply shocked and saddened”.

“Our hearts go out to the family and we have been in contact to offer our support and condolences,” he said.

“As a result of this tragedy we are in the process of conducting a comprehensive and wide-ranging internal review encompassing health and safety, security, and social events as they relate to our staff.”

The chief mental health officer of the organization will take part in the evaluation: “Counselling has been made available to all team members and employees. In addition to on-site counseling services, we have a well-established EPA program that is accessible to our employees and their families around the clock.”

According to NSW police, an investigation is ongoing, and a report will be written for the coroner.
