UNITED STATES: Former US President Donald Trump says he will be arrested on Tuesday in connection with the hush money case, and he has asked his supporters to organise mass protests. Trump’s post had its basis in media reports as law enforcement has not conveyed any such notice, which confirms his lawyer even though an indictment might soon take place, as prosecutors are hoping would come next week.

The former president on Saturday mentioned in his self-created social media platform, Truth Social, that the Manhattan district attorney’s office’s “illegal leaks” point out that he would get arrested on Tuesday. Susan Necheles, the former president’s lawyer, stated, “Since this is a political prosecution, the district attorney’s office has engaged in a practice of leaking everything to the press, rather than communicating with President Trump’s attorneys as would be done in a normal case.”

His indictment would be the first-ever criminal case that has been inflicted on a former US president. The case brings out Trump paying hush money of $130,000 to a porn star, Stormy Daniels, through his lawyer, Michael Cohen, before the 2016 presidential elections. The record of the payment that Trump used to reimburse his lawyer was titled “legal fees,” which could be grounds for falsifying business records.

The case is still being investigated, even though he denies the accusation and has not yet been arrested for it. He has stated that even if he is indicted, he will continue his 2024 presidential campaign.

Kevin McCarthy, the Republican Speaker of the US House of Representatives, has criticized the investigation, saying that it was “an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA”. This would create a lot of perplexity for Trump’s rivals within the Republican Party.
