QATAR: Following Argentina vs Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland geared up for a challenging face off. The heat of the match faded away as both team ended up in a scoreless tie.

Guillermo Ochoa, a seasoned goalie, denied Robert Lewandowski on a second-half penalty kick as the teams tied the score at Stadium 974.

After the opening round of games, Saudi Arabia surprised everyone by taking the lead in Group C. Their triumph over Argentina stunned the entire football world. After today’s draw, Mexico and Poland are behind them with one point each, while Lionel Messi and his teammates have zero points.

Mexico kick started the match with a decent shot

Both teams started the game with an attacking approach. It was less than 8 minutes into the game, and Robert Lewandowski (Poland) missed a header from the centre of the box.

Héctor Moreno (Mexico) also missed a header from very close range in the 12th minute. Ball possession was mostly on Mexico’s side.

Mexico lost a couple of very good chances to score in the 26th and 39th minutes, and it was looking almost like a goal from the spectator end.

Poland lost a golden chance with a missed penalty shot

In the second half of the game, it was a game-changing moment for Poland when they got a penalty through VAR, but Poland star Robert Lewandowski missed it.

Guillermo Ochoa made a diving save to his right to deny Robert Lewandowski’s attempt. Both teams did not want to concede a goal late in the match and lose the game.

Instead, it would be better to share points than lose, as it was the first match of the FIFA World Cup 2022 for both teams.

Both teams ended up scoring no goals, and points were shared equally among the teams.
