Concern for farmers’ protest

Addressing the protest of farmers, Modi said, “We are ready for talks and I am inviting you from this House. MSP tha, MSP hai aur MSP rahega (Minimum Support Price(MSP) was there, it is here and it will remain here). No one should spread misinformation.”

He also remembered Chaudhari Charan Singh for his contribution to the farmers welfare. “Need to keep small farmers at the center of our policies to pay tribute to Chaudhary Charan Singh,” he said. He further added, “Everyone in Parliament talked about farmers protest but didn’t speak on the reason behind the protest.” PM said that no doors are closed for discussion in the interests of the farmers.

Citing the former PM Dr. Man Mohan Singh, he said, “There are other rigidities because of marketing regime set up in the 1930s which prevent our farmers from selling theirs produces where they get the highest rate of return. We intend to remove all those handicaps which come in the way of India realizing its vast potential at one large common market.”

PM Modi praises contribution of Sikhs

Hailing Sikh contributions to India, Modi said, “This country is proud of every Sikh. What have they not done for this country? Whatever respect we give them will always be less.”

“I have been fortunate to spend crucial years of my life in Punjab. The language used by some for them and attempt to mislead them will never benefit the nation,” he added.

Foreign Disruptive Ideologies (FDI)

Taking a dig at recent foreign tweets he said, “We need foreign direct investment for our development, not foreign disruptive ideologies. A new entity has come up in the country- ‘Andolan-Jivi’ (Protesters). They can be spotted wherever there is a protest, be it agitation by lawyers, students, or laborers. They cannot live without ‘Andolan’, we have to identify them and protect the nation from them.”

The PM also responded to Congress and TMC leaders for attacking his government on freedom of speech in the country. Reacting to the speech by the TMC MP, Modi said, “I was listening to Derek Ji, he had chosen good words – Freedom of Speech, Intimidation. When I was listening to him, I was wondering if he is talking about Bengal or the country. He sees all this for 24 hours, so he might have said the same here too.”

Praising Gulam Nabi Azad

PM Modi heaped praises on Congress leader Gulam Nabi Azad and said, “He always speak politely and softly, we can learn how to discuss in the parliament from him.” He also praised the way elections were conducted in Jammu and Kashmir. Famous for his quick-witted comment, he added, “I hope your praises for us is taken at the right spirit by your party,” bringing a burst of laughter in the Rajaya Sabha.
