In the meantime, India won silver in the women’s trap team competition. Rajeshwari Kumari, Preeti Rajak, and Manisha Keer made up the team. In contrast, only Keer, who finished sixth, advanced to the final in the solo women’s trap event. India’s shooting effort at the Asian Games ended with a record-breaking 22 medals (7 gold, 9 silver, and 6 bronze), which is their best-ever total.

In this edition of the Asian Games, India’s first track and field gold medal was won by Avinash Sable, who dominated the men’s 5000-meter steeplechase and was in a league of his own.

Just a few minutes later, the shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor contributed to the total as he successfully defended the gold medal he had earned in Jakarta in 2018.

Aditi Ashok won silver in the women’s individual golf competition, and India placed fourth overall in the team event. Ashok, who had been in the lead overnight, faltered on the last day, but Thailand’s Yubol Arpichaya maintained her composure to pass India and win the gold.

After placing third in her heat, championship contender Jyothi Yarraji was unable to advance to the women’s 200-meter final. With the 800m round in the women’s heptathlon still to come, defending champion Swapna Barman is presently in fourth place. In the same competition, Nandini Agasara is ranked fifth.

Amlan Borgohain also earned a spot in the 200-meter final for men. In the women’s 57kg boxing quarterfinal, Parveen improved on her form and defeated Sitora of Uzbekistan, advancing to the semifinals and securing a medal for India.

The South Korean squad in women’s hockey held the Indian team to a 1-1 tie. Aside from that, attention will be on renowned boxer Nikhat Zareen, who squares off against Raksat Chuthamat in the women’s 50kg semifinal.

Nikhat already knows she will get a bronze, but she will try to get a gold or silver instead. Jeswin Aldrin and Murali Sreeshankar will compete in the men’s long jump final during the track and field competitions.
