Talking to Transcontinental Times Nina, a Spaniard who currently resides in NYC said, “This legend has been passed down orally through generations, often as a cautionary tale to deter children from misbehaving or wandering at night near bodies of water. I believe the tale of La Llorona has endured because it taps into deep-seated fears and emotions shared by people across cultures. It explores themes of maternal love, guilt, loss, and the consequences of one’s actions.”

“Additionally, the supernatural elements and the eerie atmosphere surrounding La Llorona’s appearances make for a haunting and memorable story that continues to capture the imagination of everyone,” she added.
