Lookism: Netflix Announces the Anime Adaptation of the Hit Korean Webtoon

JAPAN: Netflix made numerous anime announcements recently, which enthralled many viewers. The streaming giant doubled the excitement of fans with the announcement of a brand-new series titled, ‘’Lookism.’’

For ordinary viewers, the title might sound like something ordinary, but any webtoon (South Korean digital comics) reader will jump with excitement upon reading the news.

Netflix unveiled the release date of Lookism in addition to the trailer release

The anime is based on Park Tae-joon’s popular webtoon of the same name, published in November 2014. The series currently consists of nineteen volumes, which is an ongoing title. The latest volume of the series debuted recently. 

Netflix Anime shared the news on Twitter. The tweet read, ‘’Lookism is coming to Netflix on November 4! Park Hyung Suk navigates high school life while switching between two very different bodies… #TUDUM #TUDUMjapan #Lookism.’’

The streaming giant also tweeted, ‘’Studio MIR (DOTA: Dragon’s Blood, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf) brings Park Hyung Suk to life in Lookism. #TUDUM #TUDUMjapan #Lookism.’’

According to the tweet, the series will be available to stream on Netflix starting November 4, 2022. Sharing the news, the makers also unveiled the key visual featuring the main characters. Besides the release date, the streaming giant also revealed more details about the studio, developing the upcoming anime.

Studio MIR, popular for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, Dota: Dragon’s Blood, and The Legend of Korra will handle the animation of Lookism. Netflix also shared the trailer on various social media platforms, which showcased a short glimpse of the upcoming series. Given the animation quality, it appears that the studio has brilliantly worked on the technical aspects of the anime.

In addition to Lookism, Netflix also shared numerous anime series announcements and updates, which include The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 1 trailer, Wit Studio’s latest sci-fi series Moonrise, and many more.
