Pop Sensation Olivia Newton-John Dies at 73

UNITED STATES: ‘Grease’ actress and singer Olivia Newton-John lived her last at her Ranch in Southern California, surrounded by her friends and family. The British originated, Australian singer cum actor won four Grammys in her lifetime and sold 100 million albums. She has been a part of the music industry for the last five decades.

The ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’ singer was an inspiration to many who aspired to be like her. The actor died at 73, according to a statement issued by her husband, John Easterling. He took to the singer’s verified Instagram account and confirmed the grief.

He wrote, “Dame Olivia Newton-John passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

Olivia Newton-John battled breast cancer in the early ’90s, after which she rediscovered cancer in her spine. The actor kept her dim belief in plant medicine therapy during the cancer battleship. She fought 30 long years with the ailment.

His husband wrote, “Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continue with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.”

Premier Daniel Andrews made a statement after the actor’s demise. He said a tribute would be offered to the Braveheart Olivia and many other singers by lighting up monuments of Victoria in pink. He added, “enormous contribution to cancer awareness, research and treatment.”

The chief executive of Breast Cancer Network Australia, Kirsten Pilatti, says: “Today’s the day to reach out and ask for help. And if people in your life are living after a breast-cancer diagnosis, reach out to them and connect with them.”

Olivia Newton John’s ‘Grease’ co-star John Travolta also paid his tribute to the actress.

“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again.

“Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!”
