China has expressed its anger in tangible policies and sanctions by imposing a ban on citrus fruits and fresh imports from Taiwan over alleged reports of “detection” of excessive pesticide residue and positive COVID-19 tests on packages.

In a separate notice, the Ministry also said that it would place a ban on the export of natural sand to Taiwan from Wednesday, without providing any further details.

On top of these latest sanctions, Taipei’s Council of Agriculture said on Tuesday that China had cited regulatory bans on the import of other Taiwanese products like honey, fisheries and tea.

Moreover, Chinese authorities have also planned live-fire military drills encircling Taiwan, in a move. Taipei’s Defence Ministry said, it gravely threatened the island’s key ports and urban areas.

At some points, the zone of Chinese operations will come within 20 kilometres (12.4 miles) of Taiwan’s shoreline, according to coordinates shared by the People’s Liberation Army.

Highly disdainful of US interference in Taiwan’s business, China conducted military drills near Taiwan’s shores to let their mistrust and dissatisfaction known. Meanwhile, South East Asian foreign ministers will seek ways to help quell the diplomatic storm over Taiwan at regional talks today.
