UNITED STATES: Gamers eagerly anticipating Nvidia’s latest graphics card release, the GeForce RTX 4070, have been disappointed by recently leaked pricing.
Youtuber Moore’s Law is Dead (MLID), a regular tech leaker, revealed that the starting price for the RTX 4070 will be $749.99, 50% higher than the RTX 3070.
The launch of the GeForce RTX 4070 will occur in two parts, with the standard version available on April 12th and premium third-party variants following on April 13th.
Another Twitter user leaked the release date over the weekend. However, Nvidia has advised their manufacturing partners that they cannot exceed $749.99 for the graphics card.
Gamers had hoped for a reasonably priced graphics card upgrade following the controversy surrounding the RTX 4080 release.
Gamers expect the RTX 4070 to fall between the RTX 3080 Ti and the RTX 4070 Ti in terms of performance, but the hefty price increase has left many unsure whether it’s worth the investment.
The generational price jump between the RTX 3070 and RTX 4070 MSRP is significant, with a difference of about $250, while the RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 4070 Ti are only $200 apart.
The RTX 4090 saw only a $100 increase, making it the most reasonable option in the lineup.
While Nvidia hasn’t made an official announcement yet, gamers are already questioning the value proposition of the RTX 4070.
It’s uncertain whether the pricing will change as we approach the launch date, but if it remains as predicted, gamers may want to hold off on investing in the RTX 4070 and wait for the RTX 4060 or RTX 4050.
The RTX 4070 is a much-anticipated graphics card release, but with the leaked pricing, many gamers are questioning whether it’s worth the investment.
While the gaming community expects the graphics card’s performance to be strong, the significant price jump may deter some from investing.
Nvidia has to ensure that the RTX 4070 provides gamers with exceptional value to justify the price tag.
