Ray Stevenson Dies at 58, SS Rajamouli Extend Condolences to the RRR Actor

INDIA: The action hero Ray Stevenson breathed his last in the film sets of the Italian island Ischia in Cassino, as per reports. He was performing a stunt for his upcoming film.

The actor was renowned for his versatility in films like Thor and Star Wars. Besides this, he also played the Marvel comic book anti-hero Punisher in Punisher Warzone. He was also appeared in UK TV shows like Band of Gold, Peak Practice and Murphy’s Law.

Recently, Ray Stevenson was featured as a British governor in the Oscar-winning movie RRR. Unprecedentedly, his death was announced four days before he could celebrate his 59th birthday.

The news brought a sudden state of shock to his fans. Meanwhile, RRR director SS Rajamouli extended his grief in a heartbreaking note to which he tweeted, “Shocking… Just can’t believe this news. Ray brought so much energy and vibrancy with him to the sets. It was infectious. Working with him was pure joy. My prayers are with his family. May his soul rest in peace.”

On the other hand, the official Twitter handles of Thor and Marvel Studios shared a picture of Ray Stevenson and wrote, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ray Stevenson, who brought humour and wit to the character of Volstagg. He was a wonderful actor who will be deeply missed, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”

Perhaps, the cause of the death remained unconfirmed. However, he was reportedly hospitalized during filming. The actor was born in Northern Ireland but moved to England when he was eight years old.

The larger-than-life persona of Rey Stevenson brought him close to his colleagues and fans. He was left by three sons and his wife, Italian anthropologist Elisabetta Caraccia.
