INDIA: The recent state of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which has been split into two factions and is led by Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar (separately), sparked a response from former Congress leader Kapil Sibal. Responding to the latest situation, he said it seemed to be allowed by the law, adding its a “Tamasha”.
On his Twitter handle, Sibal wrote, “Maharashtra Politics. This is not democracy. It’s a ‘Tamasha’ & The law seems to allow it! It is about the loaves of power, Not people!”
On July 2, Ajit Pawar took the oath of office as Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister, leading to the split in the NCP party. Ajit Pawar asserted that he had the backing of the majority of the MLAs because Sharad Pawar’s supporters were outnumbered.
Ajit Pawar and 8 other party MLAs who joined the NDA government in Maharashtra were suspended on Thursday by the Sharad Pawar-led NCP. The Sharad Pawar-led group also removed NCP lawmakers Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare.
Chhagan Bhujbal, rebel NCP leader, previously stated that he and other MLAs entered the Shinde-Fadnavis administration legally and that there is no chance of their being disqualified.
Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar is all prepped up to address the party’s national executive meeting in New Delhi.
However, in a big twist, the Rashtrawadi Vidyarthi Congress put up posters from Baahubali: The Beginning, where Kattappa was backstabbing Baahubali ahead of Sharad Pawar’s meeting.
Ajit Pawar simultaneously took a dig at Sharad Pawar’s age and said, “At the age of 83, he should now give his blessings to the younger leadership.” He also criticised Sharad Pawar for the NCP’s failure to elect a chief minister in Maharashtra in 2004. At that time, the NCP had more legislators than Congress.
Whereas on the contrary, Anil Deshmukh responded to the age shaming remark by Ajit Pawar and called age is just a number, and at the age of 83, Sharad Pawar is the lion alive and roaring.
