Taylor Swift Rules MTV’s Video Music Awards, ‘Anti-Hero’ Bags Video of the Year

UNITED STATES: Taylor Swift rules MTV’s Video Music Awards! VMA captivated the atmosphere with music mayhem as various pop singers brought their A-game to the prestigious event. Adding to the limelight of the award show, American songwriter and singer Taylor Swift won the Video of the Year award, including many other accolades.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Anti-Hero’ dominates VMA

Swift, who dominated the Billboard with her musical magic in 2022, received the award for her hit song “Anti-Hero” from the “Midnight” album. She made history by being the first artist to ever win four times for Video of the Year.

The singer said on stage, holding her Moon Person statuette, “This is unbelievable.” She said it meant a lot to her that this honour was chosen by the fans.

Swift’s Anti-Hero competed against Doja Cat’s “Attention”, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy,” and SZA’s “Kill Bill.”

Besides the Video of the Year award, Swift bagged awards in Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Show of the Summer, Best Pop, and Best Direction categories. In addition to Swift winning multiple prestigious titles, the song “Calm Down” by Rema and Selena Gomez also bagged the first VMA for Afrobeats music.

Anitta was honoured with Best Latin for “Funk Rave”, and Rapper Ice Spice won Best New Artist, including many other awards. SZA’s “Shirt” bagged the title for best R&B video. Shakira received the Video Vanguard Award in recognition of her 20-year career. A bilingual medley of her classics, including “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Whenever, Wherever,” was performed by the singer, who then thanked her audience.

The reality-show-based band Stray Kids took home the prize for best K-pop. BLACKPINK won the Group of the Year along with Best Choreography for Pink Venom. Jungkook also received the Song of the Summer accolade for “Seven” featuring Latto.
