INDIA: In connection with the Land for Job scam in Central Railways, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav’s private secretary, Sanjay Yadav, was summoned by the Central probe agency on October 12.

According to reports, Sanjay was summoned on Saturday and asked to appear before the team on Monday, which he failed.

Previously, Sanjay had challenged the CBI notices before the Delhi High Court because, earlier in 2015, he served for Tejashwi Yadav and participated actively in an illegitimate role.

According to a CBI spokesman, “During the investigation, it has been found that the accused, in conspiracy with the then GM Central Railways and CPO, Central Railways, engaged persons as substitutes in lieu of land either in their name or in the name of their close relatives.”

He further added, “This land was acquired at prices lower than the prevailing circle rate and much lower than the market rate. It was also alleged that the candidates used false TC and submitted false attested documents to the Ministry of Railways.”

However, back then, the CBI filed a charge sheet before a special court against veteran politician Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti, former general manager of Central Railways Sowmya Raghvan, ex-CPO of Central Railways Kamal Deep Mainrai, and other seven aspirants appointed as substitutes, and four private individuals.

During the ongoing investigation, a hard disc from 10 Circular Road Patna was recovered, which was earlier at the camp office of Lalu Prasad Yadav when he was serving as the railway minister. It carries information on 1,458 candidates who were involved in railways during his tenure.

According to official reports, back then, land of about 1.05 lakh square feet in Patna was inherited by Lalu Yadav’s family members illegally by making payments to most of the sellers in cash. In return, candidates were allegedly offered group-D jobs in Central Railways.
