The Taliban Shares Leadership Message

AFGHANISTAN. Herat: The Taliban group shared its leadership message ahead of the upcoming peace talks, calling for the preserve of scholars, traders, political figures, and education,” Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban spokesman for international media said in a tweet.

“The Islamic Emirate needs the expertise of scholars, intellectuals, political and national figures in sustaining and boosting of future government, ” he said.

“The Islamic Emirate assures trader and investors that not only their lives, wealth and honor are protected but necessary opportunities are provided for their work and activities.”

Shaheen also called education a significant aspect for future generations and national prosperity. “A nation can prosper by attainment of knowledge, ” he said.

He added that the group gives priority to negotiations and (mutual) understanding. “We shall have an Afghan-inclusive Islamic system in which all feel a sense of representation. Let us build a strong and unified nation through forgiveness, reconciliation, and compassion towards one another.”

The statement comes a day after the group announced a three-day ceasefire nationwide during the Eid celebration in Afghanistan that was welcomed by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani,

Speaking at an event in Kabul on Tuesday, President Ghani welcomed the announcement, and invited the Taliban to attend a Grand assembly known as Loya Jirga in Afghanistan-which requires all layers of Afghanistan society to attend it.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of High Peace Council for National Reconciliation, former Afghan president Hamid Karzai, and the U.S. special representative Zalmai Khalilzad also welcomed the announcement.

The UN-Led peace conference will begin after Eid, according to Turkey foreign ministry. But, the Taliban in their latest stance on the peace negotiations said that the group will not attend any peace conference till the foreign troops’ drawdown completes.
