AUSTRALIA: Zimbabwe’s spectacular win against Pakistan at the Perth stadium yesterday left everyone awestruck. The victory has now put Zimbabwe at number three (with 3 points) in the group B points table.
After Ngarava conceded 11 runs in his nineteenth over, Pakistan needed 11 runs from the last over.
Eight runs were scored off the first three deliveries of Brad Evans by Mohammad Wasim and Mohammad Nawaz. Following a lofted smash that was mistimed straight to mid-off, Nawaz was dismissed by Evans, who had come back strongly to bowl a dot ball.
In an attempt to score a second run off the final delivery, Shaheen Afridi was run out by Chakabva, giving Zimbabwe a one-run victory.
Sikandar Raza won the Player of the Match award for his outstanding bowling performance, which significantly shifted the match in Zimbabwe’s favour.
Speaking to Transcontinental Times about the thrilling final over Zimbabwean all-rounder Ryan Burl said, “Just trying to stay calm under pressure and make sure we take any opportunity that comes our way”.
On asking about the importance of the win, he replied, “The win against Pakistan is obviously a great deal to us and our family. It was extra special as all the supporters around the world were cheering for us”.
“We are a force to be reckoned with! We’re taking each game as it comes and hopefully we will continue to put a smile on all the fans supporting us around the world”, the all-rounder added further.
Ryan Burl is a Zimbabwean all-rounder who is an integral part of the national team.
Recently, Zimbabwe defeated Australia in an ODI by 3 wickets where Ryan Burl took a brilliant five-wicket haul. He was also adjudged the player of the match award for his fantastic performance.
