UKRAINE: Andriy Yermak posted on social media that 16 apartment complexes and other structures, including a nursery school, had been destroyed by missiles and rockets in Bakhmut, the scene of months of conflict.

At least eight people were hurt when the Russians used S-300 surface-to-air missiles and Uragan rockets to attack Kostyantynivka in February 2022.

The city is close to Slovyansk and Kramatorsk, two cities that Russia is attempting to annexe. Before Russia invaded, 70,000 people were living there.

Ivan Fedorov, the Ukrainian mayor of Melitopol in the south, reported that explosions shook the Russian-occupied city on Sunday. He claimed the nearby rail depot was the target, as it serves as a transportation centre for the Russian military and is located immediately to the north of Russian-occupied Crimea.

Russia’s hunger for ammunition

Sergei Shoigu, Russia’s minister of defence, informed Russian commanders that steps are being taken to increase ammunition production as the quantity of the most essential ammunition has been calculated.

After using so many precise weapons in the conflict in Ukraine, independent military analysts have stated time and time again that Russia is running low on supplies.

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of Russia’s Wagner mercenary company, has criticised Shoigu and the defence ministry for denying his forces essential munitions. To increase the size of the group, prisoners who had recently been released from Russian prisons were recruited.

Wagner has suffered severe losses in the Bakhmut combat, but the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is adamant that his troops will not abandon it. In recent days, there have been rumours that the Russians have achieved modest progress.

Bakhmut has been viewed by Ukraine as a significant drain on Russian military resources. In a statement commemorating a year since Russian soldiers were driven out of the Kyiv region, Zelensky congratulated his fellow countrymen for halting the most powerful anti-human force in history and liberating all of their countries.
