Who could have thought a place brimming with shiny stars and multiple planets could spawn a new genre of horror, now known as “Cosmic horror” in Hollywood? Yes! It was all possible through the minds of Ridley Scott and Dan O’Bannon.

This dose of cosmic horror in Hollywood was boosted with a touch of action by the visionary filmmaker James Cameron in Aliens. The film, released in 1986, initiated Cameron’s action heroine era. The sci-fi action film introduced Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, who slaughters the infamous Xenomorphs filled with acidic blood.

The climactic scene in which Ripley battles the Queen is where this film peaks on its action, story and conviction. Weaver’s dialogue delivery acts as a catalyst as she punches the Xenomorph to death, giving a satisfying moment in cinema history.
