INDIA: Every year, on July 26, the entire nation commemorates the country’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War. Even though it has been 23 years after the battle, the wounds are crisp and fresh in the memories of every Indian. The Indian army created history on July 26 1999, by defeating Pakistani troops, who illegally occupied a hilltop at the LoC at Kargil, Ladakh.

Newly-elected President Droupadi Murmu paid respect to the sacrifices of all the Kargil heroes who led their life for their country. She took to her Twitter and wrote: “Kargil Vijay Diwas is a symbol of extraordinary valour and determination of our Armed forces. On July 26 1999, the Indian soldiers hoisted the National Flag, announcing their victory over Pakistani invaders. The warfare lasted nearly three months, and many young soldiers led their lives to save their country from Pakistani guerrillas. The Pakistani troop operated a secret mission to enter the Indian side of the Line of Control (LOC), aiming to develop a link between Ladakh and Kashmir.

After the long-run battle came to an end, Pakistan denied its participation in the war. Their entire blame is set upon the Kashmiri separatists. But, detailed investigations proved their vigorous involvement in the war.
