AUSTRALIA. Brisbane: A man and a woman were discovered dead at a residence in the Brisbane suburb of Stretton this morning. Police have set up a crime scene.

Brisbane police officers arrived on Coolidge Street at 9:30 am and discovered the two victims dead. A 49-year-old male was then detained.

“Frenzied attack” in Brisbane

A woman in her 40s and a male in his early 20s were the targets of a “frenzied attack,” according to detective superintendent Andrew Massingham, who characterised the scene as confronting.

“At approximately 9:40am this morning certain information was received by triple-zero, that an incident had occurred at [Coolidge Court, Stretton],” he said.

“Several police units responded to a two-story brick home, where they encountered a 49-year-old man at the door.”

“That male person unlocked the front door and was seen to be suffering some injuries to his arms and legs. Police then ascended the internal staircase, and noticed a large amount of blood on the staircase.”

Two “bladed weapons” that the police suspect were used in the assault were found.

The 49-year-old guy was the caller who contacted triple-zero, according to police, and a Cantonese interpreter was needed at the site.

The man was unable to speak with the police, so they gave him first aid before taking him to jail and taking him to the hospital for treatment.

Brisbane police believe the three individuals are “connected,” though the victims have not yet been properly recognised or their links with one another established.

Brisbane police have requested anyone with information to come forward as they are asking their neighbours for help.
