AUSTRALIA: Sydney Sixers defeats Sydney Thunder by 30 runs in a rain-affected match. Sydney Sixers jumped to the 2nd spot in the Big Bash League points table after winning this match. The game was reduced to 16 overs per side due to rain. In this match after winning the toss, Sydney Thunder decided to bowl first.

Sydney Sixers were off to a decent start as their opener Josh Philippe and James Vince added 24 runs in 3 overs. Daniel Sams got the first breakthrough for Sydney Thunder as he took the wicket of Josh Philippe (13) and Sydney Sixers were 24/1 after 3.2 overs.

Daniel Hughes’ half-century for Sydney Sixers

Daniel Hughes joined James Vince after the fall of the first wicket. Daniel Hughes changed the momentum of the game as he played a blazing knock of 50 runs off just 26 deliveries which were 1 four and 5 massive sixes. Daniel Hughes was well supported by James Vince who scored 31 runs off 29 deliveries which included 5 fours and when Vince got out Sydney Sixers were 62/2 after 8.3 overs.

After the fall of James Vince, Moises Henriques came out to bat. Henriques got out after scoring 10 runs off 5 deliveries which included 1 four and 1 six. After that Daniel Hughes and Jordan Silk added 42 runs in just 20 deliveries. Daniel Hughes got out after playing a beautiful knock and after he got out Sydney Sixers were 117/4 after 12.4 overs.

Daniel Christian’s classic cameo

With just 3.2 overs left in the Sydney Sixers innings, Daniel Christian came out to bat. Daniel Christian played a thunderous inning as he scored 41 runs off just 17 deliveries which included 4 fours and 2 sixes and because of his quick-fire cameo, Sydney Sixers scored 168/4 in 16 overs.

For Sydney Thunder, Daniel Sams took 2 wickets while Chris Green and Saqib Mahmood took 1 wicket each.

Sydney Thunder didn’t have a good start as they lost their opening batsmen Matthew Gilkes (6) in the very first over and Sydney Thunder was 6/1 after 1 over.

After the first wicket, Jason Sangha joined Alex Hales in the middle. They both added 33 runs for the Sydney Thunder. Alex Hales got out after scoring 14 off just 6 deliveries which included 2 sixes.

Jason Sangha played a really good inning as he scored 47 runs off 30 deliveries which included 6 fours and 1 six. He was well supported by Sam Billings (9) and Alex Ross (16).

Sydney Thunder lost quick wickets

Sydney Thunder were 108/5 after 10.5 overs. Sydney Thunder needed 60 runs in 5.1 overs. Daniel Sams and Ben Cutting tried hard to chase down the target. Daniel Sams scored a quick-fire 28 runs off just 11 deliveries which included 4 massive sixes but he didn’t get any support from the other end and Sydney Thunder lost the match by 30 runs as they finished at 142/10 after 15.1 overs.

For Sydney Sixers, Hayden Kerr took 3 wickets while Ben Dwarshuis, Sean Abbott, and Lloyd Pope took 2 wickets each, and Mickey Edwards took 1 wicket.
