England vs. France

At the Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar on Sunday, France defeated England 2-1 to advance to the semifinals of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022.

In the 17th minute, the defending champions took the lead thanks to a long-range shot from Aurelien Tchouameni. England and France leveled after Harry Kane’s successful penalty kick in the 54th minute.

In the 78th minute, Oliver Giroud then gave France the lead once again. Following the victory, France will play Morocco in the semifinals.

France aspires to defend its world championship and win back-to-back World Cups for the first time since Brazil in 1958 and 1962.

Many believed that France wouldn’t advance past the first round of the competition because of the numerous injuries that have prevented many players, including seasoned pros Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, and Karim Benzema, from competing.

Portugal vs. Morocco

Morocco made history on Saturday by winning 1-0 over Portugal to move to the World Cup semifinals.

Defending champions France will face Morocco in the final after Youssef En-first-half Nesyri’s header gave Morocco a historic victory.

The three other African teams to advance to the quarterfinals before Morocco was Cameroon in 1990, Senegal in 2002, and Ghana in 2010.

Fernando Santos, the manager of Portugal, declared that he would stand by his choice to sit Cristiano Ronaldo even after his side was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.

In Tuesday’s 6-1 victory over Switzerland in the round of 16, as 21-year-old Goncalo Ramos scored three goals in just his fourth game, Ronaldo, Portugal’s all-time leading scorer with 118 goals in 195 appearances, sat on the bench.

Yesterday, Ronaldo ran straight off the field after the final whistle while sobbing heavily and being comforted by his teammates.
