AUSTRALIA: On the evening of Friday, a Pickles auction yard fire encased motor vehicles, producing an enormous plume of black smoke higher than the Perth neighbourhood of Bibra Lake.

In addition to the 60 recovery vehicles and associated racking that had been destroyed by the fire, nearby cars that were not entirely ruined by the blaze also suffered some damage.

The fire started shortly after 5 o’clock on Friday local time, and on Saturday, the police arson squad and the State’s Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) of Western Australia were on the scene investigating the cause of it. In a storage yard, the fire was contained, and there has been no harm to the facilities in the warehouses per se, and no injuries have been reported as well.

Pickles’ most important customers are federal, state, and local governments. Pickles is among the world’s biggest companies in Australia that resell vehicles.

A citizen witnessed the inicident across the street from the Bibra Lake branch. She and her husband got in their car and started heading for the impending cloud of smoke. Whenever the two arrived on the scene, cars were blowing up in the fire, and they could hear sirens and see helicopters in the sky.

She said, “The noise was bizarre. With the batteries exploding in sparkles and the doors flying off, it seemed like something from an action movie. You can’t help but stare at one of those strange situations even if you realise it’s kind of awful. I just appreciate that no one was hurt.”

As per a Pickles spokesperson, business as usual restarted at the Bibra Lake branch on Saturday, and activities had not been affected. The Cockburn Central and Murdoch fire stations’ remedial action was recognised by the company as being happy and grateful. According to the DFES, the scene was attended by 15 fire trucks from seven different stations.
