NIGERIA. Abuja: The Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the detectives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) to immediately redeploy men of the Nigerian Police to schools, colleges, and student communities across the country to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
Baba made the assertion through the Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi during the Force Management Team meeting at IGP Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
However, Adejobi said that the move is to further strengthen the security architecture of the schools, colleges, and tertiary institutions, and most importantly the boarding schools, their campuses, and the student communities To also checkmate the activities of the students through surveillance and intelligence to bring sanity to the Nigeria schools.
“Meanwhile, the meeting also looked at the security issue in the country as a whole. And the order is because of some insecurity issues reported in some Nigerian schools in the past,” Adejobi noted.
Adejobi, on the other hand, stated that the measure is aimed at bolstering the security architecture of the country’s schools, colleges, and tertiary institutions, particularly boarding schools, their campuses, and student communities.
The move is taken to ensure the use of surveillance and intelligence to check the activities of kids to restore sanity to Nigerian schools.
“I reassured parents, guardians, students, and the broader public that their children and their surroundings were safe. I also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to diversifying resources in order to ensure the long-term security and safety of all Nigerians,” Adejobi said.
