Netflix to Broadcast 2023 SAG Awards on Its YouTube Channel

UNITED STATES: The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) have signed a multi-year contract with the popular digital platform, Netflix, in the latest development. The 29th edition of the prominent award show will be broadcast live on Netflix’s YouTube channel. The most desired award show was established to honour the best performers in both films and television. 

Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the national executive director of SAG-Aftra, confirmed, saying, “We are thrilled to embark on this exciting new partnership with Netflix, and we look forward to expanding the global audience for the show. As the only televised awards program exclusively honouring the performances of actors whose work is admired by millions of fans, the SAG Awards are a unique and cherished part of the entertainment universe.” As per reports, the Screen Actors Guild Awards 2023, will air on Netflix’s YouTube channel on February 26 from 8 p.m.

For the previous two decades, the popular SAG Awards were broadcast on TBS and TNT before moving to OTT.

The Global TV head of Netflix, Bela Bajaria, said in a statement that “The SAG Awards are loved by the creative community and viewers alike. And now, even more fans around the world will be able to celebrate these talented actors. As we begin to explore live streaming on Netflix, we look forward to partnering with SAG-AFTRA to elevate and expand this special ceremony as a global live event in 2024 and the years to come.”

The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists founded the SAG Awards ceremony in 1952, and it has gradually become the most cherished event in the Hollywood industry since 1995. Interestingly, the SAG Awards are made of solid bronze and are produced by the American Fine Arts Foundry in Burbank, California.
