Moving Malawi’s Agriculture Through Green Technology

MALAWI. Lilongwe: Emmanuel Banda is a young innovator who would like to lead Malawi’s green technology’ revolution.

He is the co-founder of Noble Agriculture Technologies, a green technologies agriculture start-up.

Banda, a graduate of the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, is already manufacturing greenhouse technological devices like greenhouse dryers and hydroponic system among others.

Malawi is an agro-based economy with agriculture contributing over 80 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Produce ( GDP).

But most farmers do not use advanced technologies in farming.

“We have used primitive methods of farming for long. The reason me and my colleagues decided to establish Noble Agri Tech was to improve agriculture productivity and profitability,” says Banda.

Global Appeal

Currently, Banda has been supplying his products to medium scale farmers, non-governmental organisations in the agriculture sector and government agencies.

But with demand coming from other countries including Zambia, he has plans to invade the International markert.
